Police: West side shooting may have been accidental
ROCKFORD – A woman is in critical condition after being shot early Wednesday on the city’s west side.
Police say just after midnight, officers located the 33-year-old victim inside a residence in the 2000 block of School Street. She was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Officers also located a group of individuals inside the home, including the resident, who the victim was visiting. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are conducting a follow-up investigation and looking into the possibility that the shooting was accidental.
