ROCKFORD – A Rockford man was arrested Wednesday and charged with several sex charges involving a minor. 

Saul Colin, 31, is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, four counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. 

Police say charges against Colin are the result of an investigation that began in February 2016, when investigators received a report of a sexual assault of a victim younger than 13 that occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Cunningham Street. Colin shared a domestic relationship with the victim’s mother.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case, authorized charges, and an arrest warrant for Colin was obtained in December 2017. Detectives made several attempts to locate Colin, but learned he had moved out of the area. They located him July 10 in the 700 block of Cunningham Street and took him into custody without incident.

Colin is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. Bail has been set at $250,000.
