Rockford man gets 24 years in prison for sexually assaulting child

ROCKFORD – A 42-year-old man, on Friday, was sentenced to 24 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child. 

Marcus Lee Williams, of Rockford, was also ordered to serve three years to natural life on parole after pleading guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault in front of Judge Debra Schafer.

The sentence stems from a 2018 report received by the Rockford Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit. Williams was identified as a suspect during a follow-up investigation and the results were reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. Williams was subsequently indicted by a grand jury.

Predatory criminal sexual assault is a Class X felony punishable by six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three Williams must serve 85% of his sentence.
