Shots-fired call leads to drug, gun arrests

ROCKFORD – A shots-fired report on the city’s west side Friday led to gun and drug charges against two individuals.

Police say at approximately 4:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to shots fired in the area Pierpont Avenue and Cunningham Street. While in route, officers located a vehicle leaving the area and conducted a traffic
stop near Delaware Street and Concord Avenue. Two adult males, an adult female and juvenile female were in the vehicle, police said.

During the investigation at the scene, officers located a loaded handgun and a backpack containing a scale, and substances believed to be marijuana and cocaine.

The driver, 24-year-old Aaliyah Ketton, of Loves Park, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis. Matthew Love, 19, of Stockton, Illinois, is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge, criminal defacement of a firearm and no FOID. The two other passengers were released without charges.

Ketton and Love are being held without bond in the Winnebago County Jail.
