Boone County man sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexually abusing child

Staff Report

BELVIDERE – A Poplar Grove man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexually abusing a child, Boone County State’s Attorney Tricia Smith said in news release Friday.

Anthony B. Enos, 40, was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Rob Tobin. He received seven years for the offense of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. He must serve 85% of that sentence and serve three years to life on parole. Enos also received seven years behind bars for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and will serve 50% of that term followed by two years of parole. The sentences will be served consecutively.

Smith said the charges stem from sexual contact with a child who was between the ages of 9 and 11 at the time of the offenses.

Tobin also sentenced Enos to four years of probation for harassment of a witness. That term will begin when he is released from prison on the other two sentences.

Enos will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
