ROCKFORD – A Winnebago County jury on Wednesday, found a Loves Park woman guilty in the drowning death of her 1-year-old daughter.

Stephanie A. Larson, 26, was convicted of one count of endangering the life of a child, Class 3 felony. Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross’s office said the charge stemmed from an incident that occurred Oct. 23, 2017 in the 5100 block of Rocky Lane. That’s the day toddler’s father arrived home from work at 6:30 p.m., and found her floating in the bathtub.

The girl’s pulled her from the water and performed CPR before she was transported to a local hospital, where she died. Authorities say Larson put the girl in the tub, left her unattended and forgot about her.

Larson is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 30.  Endangering the life of a child is punishable by probation or between two and 10 years in prison.
