Rockford men face drug charges

ROCKFORD – Two Rockford men are in custody following a months-long narcotics investigation. 

Michael Alexander, 42, and 24-year-old Dana Simmons are charged with possession with intent to deliver cannabis and possession with intent to deliver ecstasy.

Over the past few months, the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received several complaints of alleged drug dealing in the area of Auburn Street and Central Avenue. Detectives investigated and identified Alexander and Simmons as suspects.

Police located Alexander and Simmons Tuesday, Aug. 27, in a car in the 300 block of Cameron Avenue and took them into custody without incident. Police say they were with a third male who was also detained after detectives detectives located cannabis and equipment to sell cannabis inside the vehicle.

Alexander’s bond has been set at $250,000. Simmons is being held on a $100,000 bond. 

The third male was released without charges.
