ROCKFORD – Mercyhealth, on Friday, announced that Dr. Raza Hamdani has joined the
gastroenterology staff at Mercyhealth Rockton Avenue, 2300 N. Rockton Ave.

“As I personalize the care for each of my patients, I continuously incorporate new knowledge
into my practice,” Hamdani said.

After earning his medical degree at the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria, Dr. Hamdani served his internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital, Chicago. He also completed a Critical Care fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, and a gastroenterology/hepatology fellowship at the University of Iowa.

Hamdani is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with added certification in gastroenterology. His special interests include gastrointestinal endoscopy, colon cancer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, hepatitis C, cirrhosis, liver failure, management of complex pancreatic and gastrointestinal disease, and management of liver transplant recipients.
