COVID-19 confirmed at two Rockford long-term care facilities

ROCKFORD – Confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, have been confirmed at two Rockford long-term faculties.
While public health officials have not reported the number of cases at each location but confirmed infections at Alden Alma Nelson Manor, 550 S. Mulford Road, Rockford; and Anam Care Center, 8104 Sayer Road, Rockford.
While it is not common for nursing homes to report illnesses, administrators did so in this case because it is a public health issue.
Staff at the facilities are working closely with the Winnebago County Health Department to notify family members who may have been exposed to COVID-19 and working to mitigate further transmissions.
Visitors are restricted at Alden Alma and Anam Care Center.
There are now 76 positive cases of COVID-19 in Winnebago County. One man has died. Statewide, more than 15,000 people have been infected. Approximately 3,700 people have been hospitalized. The death toll is currently at 462.
