ROCKFORD – Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden will offer a drive-through tree giveaway in celebration of Arbor Day  Friday, April 24.

Trees will be available to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Klehm grounds,  2715 S. Main St. Rockford, while supplies last.

It’s a rain-or-shine event. Bare root trees available include bur oak, red oak, and swamp white oak. The drive-thru giveaway will be self-serve, with visitors choosing their tree by following signage and pulling up to one of three stations set up in Klehm’s parking lot, rolling down their window and helping themselves to a complimentary tree.

Once departed, Klehm staff will then replenish the station with a new bare root tree before the next guest pulls up to the station, thereby ensuring social distancing guidelines will be met and no health risks will occur throughout the process.

Visitors are encouraged to park afterward and visit Klehm’s beautiful grounds and gardens while following social distancing guidelines and enjoying the spring season.
