ROCKFORD – Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announced Wednesday the launch of the Winnebago County State’s Attorney Junior Ambassador program.

The goal of program is to engage students with positive interaction with the criminal justice system. Students will learn core values that they can share with their community and their schools.

The program will being by running six weeks at Washington Park Community Center.

“Teens from Washington Park Community Center, a facility of the Rockford Park
District will be the first group to be involved in this new program which is going to provide them with lifelong leadership skills along with linking them to mentors and well respected professionals in our community.” Washington Park Recreation Coordinator Kamrin Muhammad said. “Anytime we can invest in our next generation, our community wins so thank you to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s office for this experience.”

The State’s Attorney’s Office is also in the process of offering the State’s Attorney’s
Office Junior Ambassador Program to all students in Winnebago County which will be held at other locations in Rockford. The six-week program will culminate with a graduation ceremony for all participants.
