Rockford mayor announces new group, golf outing to support Family Peace Center

Staff Report

ROCKFORD – Mayor Tom McNamara, on Thursday, announced the creation of a new group aimed at fighting domestic violence.

The group, “100 Men Who Give a Damn,” brings  together busy men in the community to make a difference without a huge time commitment. It meets four times a year to raise money for the Mayor’s Office of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Prevention’s Family Peace Center initiative.

Thursday, 100 Men Who Give a Damn Members Jeff Kellen and Rob Young helped announce an upcoming event–a Golf Outing at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club Monday, Sept. 9.

The outing is sponsored by Associated Bank, which is helping to cover costs so the participant fees will go directly to helping survivors of domestic violence.

At $100 per event, the group’s goal is to raise $40,000 per year.
