Rockford officers respond to strong-armed robbery

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department is investigating a strong-armed robbery, after patrol officers responded to an incident Thursday on the city’s near-east side.

At approximately 6:55 p.m., officers arrived at 6th Street and 10th Avenue and learned a 59-year-old man was walking in the area and was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects spoke to the victim while the second suspect tried stealing the man’s wallet. A struggle ensued, and the suspects fled on foot with the victim’s wallet and cell phone.

The victim was not seriously injured.

The suspects are described as black males, between 25 and 30. They were wearing dark
clothing.
